Sollers partnered with Länsförsäkringar AB to deliver a modern Guidewire-based commercial lines platform serving 23 mutual insurance companies across Sweden. The engagement covered the full delivery and operational model – from Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines to observability and disaster recovery – ensuring a reliable, scalable platform built on shared standards and close collaboration.
Länsförsäkringar AB set out to replace a legacy core system with a modern, scalable digital platform for commercial lines – one that would standardise processes across 23 mutual insurance companies, support digital distribution, and improve both customer acquisition and service quality. Sollers brought DevOps expertise in Guidewire-based ecosystems to ensure the platform could be delivered and operated in a reliable, controlled way.
Länsförsäkringar AB is one of Sweden's largest insurance groups, operating as a federation of 23 regional mutual insurance companies. The organisation had already built a well-established DevOps team, solid practices, and a robust change management process – creating a strong foundation for a large-scale platform transformation.
End‑to‑end in action: strategy, build, launch, evolve
The goal was to deliver a unified commercial lines platform based on Guidewire, serving multiple companies simultaneously. The solution combined Guidewire Centers, integration microservices, messaging brokers, and customer-facing portals – all of which needed to be delivered and operated consistently as one platform.
Key challenges included:
Infrastructure as Code and runtime consistency
We built Infrastructure as Code for the entire ecosystem running on OpenShift, using containerisation, Helm charts, and consistent versioning. This ensured all components followed the same patterns and that environments could be reproduced across stages. High availability was designed in from the start, with redundancy and failover considered across every layer.
CI/CD and release coordination at scale
With up to 100 people involved, a shared CI/CD approach was essential. We implemented build processes tailored to each part of the ecosystem – Gosu for Guidewire, Java Spring Boot for microservices, and React for customer-facing portals. Azure DevOps release pipelines served as the common coordination point, integrating testing, security checks, version management, and approval flows aligned with LF's governance. This enabled a regular and frequent release cadence across the entire platform.
Observability and disaster recovery
Monitoring and observability were implemented as integral parts of the solution, giving teams the visibility needed to understand system behaviour in production and respond effectively. Disaster recovery mechanisms were designed across all layers to ensure the platform remains resilient and can recover reliably when needed.
Rather than introducing a separate delivery model, Sollers aligned with LF's existing standards, patterns, and templates from the outset. This allowed rapid onboarding while preserving what was already working well. In return, Sollers contributed deep experience from Guidewire implementations and across the broader technology stack. The result was a shared approach that supported consistent, controlled delivery across the entire ecosystem.
Results: a production platform serving 23 mutual insurance companies.
What began as a DevOps delivery engagement evolved into a productive, long-term partnership. By combining Sollers' Guidewire expertise with LF's established engineering culture, the project delivered a stable, scalable platform now serving 23 mutual insurance companies - with the processes, tooling, and team alignment in place to support its continued growth.
