Operational efficiency and claims automation powered by a Guidewire V8→V10 upgrade

Mar 10, 2026 Core Systems, Guidewire

Sollers partnered once again with L’olivier Assurances to deliver a major Guidewire upgrade programme, covering core policy, billing, claims, and contact management systems.

The transformation spanned multiple markets and was delivered through a sequence of coordinated initiatives. Since 2024, the program has included three major projects: a claims system upgrade, a policy and billing systems upgrade, and ongoing development of new claims functionality. Each phase was executed with consistent governance and close collaboration, ensuring smooth delivery and a stable go live experience across all releases.

The successful delivery reinforced a long-standing collaboration and supported L’olivier’s continued growth in a highly competitive insurance market.

About L’Olivier Assurances (Admiral Group)

L’olivier Assurances is a fast-growing, customer-focused insurer and a recognised challenger in the French insurance market, known for combining digital efficiency with strong insurance expertise. It is a subsidiary of the international Admiral Group, benefiting from the scale and experience of a leading global insurance organisation. Their activity focuses on Motor and Household lines of business.

Challenge: Guidewire upgrade without disruption

L’olivier needed to upgrade multiple Guidewire platforms from version 8 to version 10 while simultaneously introducing new claims automation capabilities and maintaining business continuity.

The programme combined technical upgrades with functional enhancements, all delivered under tight time and budget constraints and across distributed teams in France, Spain, and Poland.

Key challenges included:

  • Limited time to gather and validate requirements
  • Parallel workstreams across multiple Guidewire products
  • Limited in-house knowledge of DARVA integrations
  • A large volume of test scenarios
  • Performance testing requirements to support sales growth
  • Data quality issues, including broken billing records
  • Compliance with data retention policy of Admiral group

Solution: phased Guidewire upgrade with governance

Sollers delivered through close collaboration, strong leadership, and deep Guidewire expertise, maintaining momentum from onsite delivery through to remote execution.

Guidewire upgrade scope: Policy, Billing and Contacts

We upgraded core systems to version 10, including:

  • PolicyCenter (PC) V8 → V10
  • BillingCenter (BC) V8 → V10
  • ContactManager (CM) V8 → V10
  • ClaimCenter functional upgrade

More than 3,000 test scenarios for PC/BC upgrade were executed to ensure stability and regression coverage across all systems.

ClaimCenter enhancements: IRSA/IRCA automation and DARVA integration

Claims processes were modernised through automation and platform-native functionality:

  • Enhancement of the IRSA process, including new features aligned with IRSA convention
  • Replacement of 30+ bot-based processes with Guidewire out-of-the-box automation capabilities
  • Integration of the IRCA process in ClaimCenter through integration with DARVA
  • Implementation of IRCA message handling
  • New features to automate bodily injury claim processing
  • Refactoring of some technical debt to allow for easier maintenance and development of the IRSA process
Data retention and compliance: purge processes and AWS document deletion

Sollers supported data retention and purge processes by:

  • Implementing claim purging mechanisms
  • Supporting monitoring teams during purge operations
  • Handling document deletion from AWS cloud storage

Why it worked: disciplined QA for the Guidewire upgrade

Leadership alignment and disciplined testing were key drivers of delivery quality throughout the programme. While the upgrades to the claims, policy, and billing systems stayed closely aligned with the original plan, the development of new claims functionalities (IRSA/IRCA) required more adaptive planning due to their evolving scope. Even with these adjustments, the programme maintained strong control and delivered stable, well-governed releases.
